MALAISE

If the fear of having or getting cancer is not based on any good reason, it is helpful if we can be made to realize that our worries are irrational. The only way we can do this is to ask ourselves whether we have done everything we should do to prevent cancer. In other words, whether or not we lead a healthy life and whether we put into practice the preventive measures recommended by all the scientific bodies (THE “ABC” OF PREVENTION).

That’s the most we can do. The maxim “Do what you must; happen what may” should bring peace of mind in such cases. Unfortunately, however, there are people who carry these unjustified excessive worries on their shoulders for their whole lives. As a result, they repeatedly undergo diagnostic tests, far beyond those recommended by the guidelines on prevention, and often suffer from a sense of psychological malaise.
